Metric types explained

A metric is anything that can be measured, e.g. the population size, road accidents, GCSE results, and council spending. We gather and process data for more than 1,800 types of public data and express it in a consistent structure so it is easily available for everyone else to use. We’re always adding new metrics, including commercial data not openly available. Here's a full list of current metric types.

The LGA works to ensure metrics are updated within 5 days of new public datasets being published.
